Prayagraj: Students enrolled in over 44,000 upper primary schools of the basic education department of the state (class 6 to 8) will be made proficient in various art forms including animation, photoshop, creating albums, project models and videos by using computer skills.
Under the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020, major changes have been made in the painting subject which is expected to be implemented from the 2024-25 session.
To teach the changed curriculum to children, a five-day teacher-training workshop has been started in the State Education Institute on December 18. The workshop will run in five batches and finally conclude on February 2.
Principal of the institute, Naval Kishore, said that in NEP-2020, it has been said that 60% bookish knowledge is to be taught and 40% will be taught through e-learning. This module will prove helpful in teaching and learning the 40% of e-learning.
“This activity-based module will be useful in enhancing life skills as well as in developing self-reliance and entrepreneurship in children. In this new method, the computer not only creates the art work, but the artist gives instructions to the computer to create the picture,” he said. Computer graphics have transformed the physical labour of art production into mental labour. The artist takes an active part in colour combination, choice of subject or background, etc, and the computer performs the artist’s work according to the instructions given, he added.
Assistant deputy education director of the institute, Deepti Mishra, said that by using computer subjects in painting, the student will become professional and this can be a good means of earning livelihood.
