Panaji: The state government must ensure pay parity in the salaries being paid to employees of Goa Recruitment and Employment Society and Goa Human Resource Development Corporation, said Congress.
The party’s general secretary, Vijay Bhike, also questioned the need for two different agencies to carry out the same task. “Around 300 people who work at the Goa Recruitment and Employment Society have not been given a salary hike for the last 10 years.Their salary is around Rs 19,000 and in hand they get around Rs 10,000. They don’t even get their salaries on time,” said Bhike.
He said that recent recruits of the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation get paid Rs 5,000 more for the same posts. “We demand that these 300 people at the society get a salary hike along with other benefits such as ESI and PF,” Bhike said.
Congress member John Nazareth said that the chief minister had given directions in July 2022, to bring the salary on par by October 2022 but nothing was done.
He claimed that some workers were being paid a salary that is below the minimum wage.
