Lucknow: With the aim to ensure a safer Christmas, Lucknow police will keep extra vigil for drink-driving among revellers.
“The Lucknow police team will keep a strict vigil on drunken driving. Besides, consuming alcohol in the open is also prohibited and will be overseen by our force deployed even in civvies,” said Aparna Rajat Kaushik, deputy commissioner of police, central zone.Although section 144 is already in place in the city keeping the Christmas day and New Year in mind, we have made enough arrangements for pedestrians in some important marketplaces. The plan has been made also keeping Sunday (December 31) in mind expecting huge crowd in the markets,” the DCP said, while adding that the barricades have been put up and traffic shall also remain diverted in many places. “Forces have also been deployed in prominent churches for extra vigil,” the DCP said.
Traffic diversions will remain enforced while no-parking zone has been made at Hazratganj intersection to Alka trisection to Mayfair trisection and from Bank of India trisection to Shahnajaf Road. At St. Francis School, the vehicles will be parked on the roadside inside and outside in a row. For Hazratganj multi-level parking, vehicles will come through Naval Kishore Road. TNN
