Promoting the Atal School of Politics: Politics Today Needs Atal’s Ideals | Lucknow News – Times of India

Lucknow: In a lively event filled with cheers, laughter, and whistles, Hindi poet Kumar Vishwas, on Sunday, turned his sharp wit towards promoting the ‘Atal School of politics,’ which champions harmony within our political system.
The ‘Atal Geet Ganga’ event was organised by the Atal foundation and deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak was the convenor of the programme held on the eve of the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre.
Vishwas advocated for a more collaborative and unified political landscape. He cited an experience from the life of former PM Vajpayee, as shared with him by a senior member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Riding pillion with him, Vajpayee used to ask him stop, every time he saw any communist and used to have sweets at a shop while discussing different issues.
“There was a time when there used to be harmonious discussion between politicians, but today, Indian politics needs Atal ji’s school of politics that had delicacy, acceptance, and the consideration of different ideas,” he said. “Seeing the Parliament session, I missed Atal ji so much,” said Kumar, citing that despite being a great personality, Vajpayee never let anyone feel inferior in his company.
Reciting his poems, Kumar shared various memories of his interaction with the late former Prime Minister. The audience, deeply engaged, sang along in chorus, their voices echoing his heartfelt words. When Kumar recited a line highlighting that a lover’s strength lies in vulnerability before the beloved, the hall erupted into a thunderous wave of applause and whistles. From the famous poem ‘Koi Deewana Kehta hai, Koi Pagal Samjhta hai’, to the poem that highlights the glory of Lord Ram, the poet took the audience for a joy ride.
He also highlighted that people coming from humble backgrounds could do great wonders, giving example of CM Yogi Adityanath. On the CM’s announcement, UP government will organize poetic sessions on the live stories of former PM Atal Bihar Vajpayee in every nook and corner of the state. Vishwas appealed to give a chance to new talent on the occasion. “New poets will do justice to the former PM’s contribution,” he said.
Earlier, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, who also served as the convenor, described Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a poet for all ages with a profound connection with Lucknow. He emphasised Vajpayee’s role in establishing India’s image as a land of reverence and celebration through his powerful addresses on the floor of the United Nations.
