Gurgaon: A woman’s body was found in a sewer drain along the Delhi-Jaipur highway near Sehrawan village of Manesar on Sunday morning.
Police said the woman appears to be in her early or mid-20s.
Former village sarpanch Sanjay Kumar Singh spotted the body at the KMP junction and filed a complaint.
“I was on a walk when I saw a foot in the drain. I looked closely and realised it’s a body,” he said in the complaint.
Manesar police station SHO Virender Kumar said cops are trying to identify the woman.“We believe that the woman may have been dead for 5-6 days. We have sent the body for autopsy,” he said.
An FIR was registered against an unidentified accused under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (distortion of evidence) of the IPC on Sunday.
The woman’s body was found a day after a cab driver was found shot dead inside his car parked along the Delhi-Jaipur highway in Manesar. Police clarified that the cases didn’t appear to be related. TOI has previously reported about street crime being a cause for concern in Manesar.
