AHMEDABAD: The education department has warned that only those private schools that have given all the details of students admitted under the Right to Education Act 2009 will be reimbursed fees for the second term.
According to sources, despite repeated reminders, many private schools in the city have not provided details of the RTE students.
Sources also said that the schools have been reimbursed the first-term fees of about 75,000 students of Classes 1-8, while the fees of 15,000 students have not been reimbursed as their attendance was less than 80% in the term.
The Ahmedabad city district education officer has also instructed private schools to not to send students and their parents to the DEO’s office to inquire why their fees have not been reimbursed.
The department said the schools should take a printout of the data uploaded on the website and put it up on their notice boards so that parents know that as their children fell short of mandatory attendance of 80%, and their fees were not reimbursed.
In case, the parents have made a mistake in bank details, they should be asked to correct them so that the fees can be reimbursed.

Kudala Sangama Development Board Collects fees from school children against its decision
The Kudala Sangama Development Board (KSDB) previously decided not to collect entry fees from school children, but now students are being forced to pay. Residents allege that this decision was made without the notice of officials. The pilgrimage site attracts a minimum of 10,000 students per day in December. The Board had initially allowed students in classes 1 to 10 to enter for free, but now fees are being collected. The KSDB Commissioner denies the allegations and states that fees are only collected from teachers, college students, and the public.
