Ahmedabad: A 35-year-old man from Kheda on Thursday filed a complaint with Mahudha police alleging that four persons including a woman cheated him of Rs 28,000 by promising to provide work permit visa to Dubai and New Zealand.
Asif Malek, a resident of Alina village in Mahudha taluka, said in his FIR that he works as an contractual employee at a toll booth in Kheda.
On July 15, Malek came across an advertisement on a social media platform promising work permit visa to Dubai.
He approached a man from the contact number given in the advertisement. The man told Malek to deposit Rs 10,000 for the visa procedure which he did. After some time, that man went incommunicado.
In August, another man called up Malek seeking to know if he would want to go to New Zealand for work permit.
Malek showed his interest in the offer after which the man called him to his office in Thane where he met another man. The two men took documents from Malek and promised him work permit visa in New Zealand.
After a week, Malek said in the FIR that he got a call from a woman who took Rs 18,000 from him for visa procedure.
In September, when Malek tried to reach out to them, all three went incommunicado.
Malek called up the cybercrime helpline first and later filed a complaint with Mahudha police for breach of trust and abetment under IPC along with the charges of the IT act against four unknown persons.

A woman in her early 30s was accused of concealing her marital status to marry another man, extracting money from him, and intimidating him with the help of her accomplices. The man discovered that his wife was already married to another man, who had broken her mobile phone during a fight. The woman deceived him by falsely claiming to be a professor and took Rs 2.67 lakh in cash and ornaments from his house. She and her family members targeted him for his social standing, properties, and assets.
