Gandhinagar: Gujarat has recorded the lowest unemployment rate among states and is second only to Himachal Pradesh in the Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR), according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) report of the Union government for the period July to September 2023.
According to the report, for 15 years and above, the LFPR for Gujarat stood at 52.9% while for Himachal Pradesh it was 57.5%.Among males, Gujarat recorded the country’s highest LFPR at 78.4%. In the 15-29 years age group, Gujarat’s LFPR was the highest in the country at 49.3% while the country’s overall LFPR stood at 39.9%.
In this age group, the state also stood first in the male LFPR at 69% where it ranked sixth among females.
In the 15-29 age group, the unemployment rate in the state for the July-September 2023 quarter was 7.1%, the lowest in the country, compared to the national average of 17.3%.
In the 15 and above age group, the unemployment rate in Gujarat stood at 3.1% against the national average of 6.6%.
