Ahmedabad: Several students admitted to the diploma course in mechanical manufacturing engineering in 2020-21 by the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) have been put in an awkward situation as the university has still not officially enrolled them.
Sources in GTU said that the university had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Toyota Tsusho NTTF training Centre in 2020-21 for running a diploma course in mechanical manufacturing engineering.Under the agreement, the centre will run the course, conduct the exam and declare results.
The sources added that students who were admitted in 2020-21 have completed their education but have not been issued diploma certificates as the university had not enrolled them at all. As a rule, the university has to enrol all students after they are admitted in any of its courses, but the academic department of GTU did not enrol these students till 2023.
Recently, they have realized that the training centre has not completed its affiliation process and is yet to pay the affiliation fees to the university. This has left students who have completed their studies without diploma certificates.
