Fees not paid to school, Class 10 girl misses Hindi exam | Ahmedabad News – Times of India

AHMEDABAD: A Class 10 student of Pinnacle Public School in Limbadia in Gandhinagar district was not allowed to take her Hindi exam. Her parents said the school did not provide her hall ticket as they had not paid her fees. The school authorities said the parents did not turn up to collect the hall ticket despite several reminders.
On Wednesday, the girl went to her exam centre, DPS at Ambapur, but was late and was not allowed to take the exam. The gathered parents insisted that the girl be allowed to take the exam. Police were also called but it was too late, and she could not take the exam.
A group of parents then went to Pinnacle Public School. The girl’s father said he was out of town for 10 days and could not go to collect the receipt. He said that yesterday he got a call from the school asking him to pay the fees and then collect the admit card. On Wednesday, when the parents went to the school, they were told to pay the fees.
“The principal was late and when she arrived, she asked me to pay the fees. As I do not use digital payment services, I offered to pay by cheque but they insisted on immediate payment. I even left my car keys as security with the school. By the time the admit card was given, it was too late for the girl to take the exam,” the father said. He said he owes the school about Rs 50,000.
Pinky Lulla, the principal of Pinnacle Public School, said, “The parent was called since Feb 13 to come and collect the admit card, but he did not come to the school. In fact, the father has blocked the school’s phone number. The family has three children in the school. The father is a businessman and the mother a govt employee. They have not paid up for the past two years. They owe the school Rs 1.88 lakh.”
“We have not even stopped any of the three children from coming to school. We sent a clerk to the examination centre to ensure that the child was allowed to take the exam. We have also written to the CBSE to permit the girl to take her Hindi exam later so that her year can be saved,” she said.
Lulla said the parents came to the school with the police and the matter was discussed in the police’s presence.
