Ahmedabad: Four armed robbers targeted Jay Bhavani jewellers in Maninagar on Wednesday night and fled with gold ornaments and phones worth a total of Rs 11.63 lakh. They entered the showroom carrying revolvers and knives. Based on a complaint by showroom owner Amrut Mali (30), Maninagar police have filed a case of robbery against the four unidentified accused under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 397 (robbery) and 114 (abettor present when offence is committed).
Mali stated that the four armed men entered his showroom on Wednesday night. After being attacked and threatened, Mali was made to sit aside. One robber jumped over the counter, opened drawers and took away a tray of gold items kept for display. The robbers also snatched both his phones so that he could not call the cops, he alleged.
According to Mali, the four had arrived on two vehicles, one a motorbike and the other a scooter, and drove towards Isanpur after the robbery, taking with them gold items worth Rs 11.43 lakh and two mobiles worth Rs 20,000. Police officials said CCTV footage is being scanned to nab the four.
