Supreme Court drops proceedings against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav | Ahmedabad News – Times of India

Ahmedabad: A metropolitan court has dropped the proceedings on a criminal defamation complaint against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav after the Supreme Court quashed the complaint in connection with the remarks where he allegedly referred to Gujaratis as ‘thag’.
The complaint was filed last year by one Haresh Mehta taking exception to Yadav’s remarks. However, Yadav withdrew his statement and tendered an apology, and this led the apex court to quash the complaint on Feb 14. The metropolitan court had taken cognizance of the defamation complaint after Mehta brought witnesses to the court to substantiate his allegations that his sentiments as a Gujarat native were hurt by Yadav’s remarks. tnn
